Family Values #2

What have I done to deserve this???
This weekend is the Live8 thing [about which I care not a toss] and also [Gay] Pride.
I’m not that bothered by pride that much either. It’s always been a bit of a disaster for us. Usually it rains or worse still my beloved invites some undesirable.
This year not only has he invited several but I also have family descending on us.
It wasn’t planned that the visit of family would coincide with Pride but when he asked me I never even thought that far in advance.
I think about the only desirable person we [that’s royal “We” it’s all my b/fs doing, none of it mine] have invited is our tame drug dealer. Always handy to have one on-site coz the way we plough through the Charlie we do tend to run out “mid sniff”.
As luck would have it my brother is only passing through on his way to some shindig in France. He won’t arrive until late Saturday and will be off again early Sunday but it does potentially put a bit of a damper on the all night roof party. Then again I may be surprised and find he wants to party on down!……somehow, I doubt it.

All that jazz...

Well, that was a fun weekend. I spent it in Leicester Square working at the “West End Live” festival.
Basically a showcase for some of the musical running in the west end.
The excerpt from Mamma Mia was absolute shite, just like the rest of the show. Chicago, tuneless crap [and for the VIP show on Friday, complete with Brooke Shields].
The absolute highlight, for me, was the bit from Mary Poppins. I hated the film and had no desire to see the stage show. I do now.
Now to the low point of the show, Jazz.
One of the acts was the London Swing Jazz Orchestra, [they did a slot at West End At War last year and were superb] this year they were just as good. The last show of the weekend was the Woody Herman Jazz Orchestra.
I had the dubious pleasure of being stood in the “pit” at the front of the stage for this set.
Now, while I don’t pretend to be a musical expert, I know what I like, and I didn’t like this.
Twelve men [and Americans, at that] all playing instruments of some sort and all playing music….of some sort.
Problem being they’re all playing a different tune one from the other! What a fukin row! AND, they played for 40 mins, absolute torture.
Not that this is any sort of plug for them but they are on at Ronnie Scotts for the next week, avoid like the plague!

Family Values

Oh the joys of living in the middle of London and haing country bumpkins for a family.
What it actually means is that once in a while, all too often for my liking, they have the urge to come to the smoke.
I should explain that they're not my family, it's my boyfriends tribe and, being Irish [Northern], there are bleedin' loads of them.
Now it's fine for me, I lived over there for years, so I speak the lingo, but it can be just a tad wearing having to translate almost every utterance .e.g "nadinadinadina thefuk" -"twenty pints of Stella and a bag of plain crisps please".
Translation is though only the tip of the iceberg. Northern Ireland's cost of living is only slightly higher than Albania. Thus, the relatives turn up over here complete with £50 and expecting to have a high old time. Mmmm!
Today we took them out for lunch [truth to tell, I didn't get home from work until after2amm and had a couple of tins and a quick sniff so lunch was the last thing I wanted to do]. They eat like wild dogs, drink like fish [but we both like a wee tad drink so I can't beat them with that stick] and the whole conversation is peppered with "Fuk" every other work in fact. Now I can swear with the best of them but fuk me....
They go back on Tuesday and, despite the non-to subtle hints today, I am not driving them to Stanstead.

Try Again....

Well, been here done this.
My other Blog has somehow disappeared into thin air so, here we go again.
More of the same shit, probably, same old bigoted, narrow minded guff to come.
